Vanda Scartezini

Vanda Scartezini is an Electronics Engineer and a Brazilian citizen, and graduated from college in 1970. Since then she has held many management positions with private technology companies and Government positions as a President of Brazilian Patent Office, and National Secretary for Information Technology, among other. She is the co-founder of and has been an active partner in Polo Consultores, a Brazilian IT consulting company – established in 1985 – dedicated to assist companies with projects in software, electronic industry, e-waste, e-commerce, cyber security and other internet based business – She also acts as chair of the board of FITEC, an ICT R&D foundation in Telecommunication, IT and Energy and member of two other R&D centers. She also teaches MBA courses on Intellectual Property and Public Policy at Fundação Getulio Vargas and University of São Paulo – Polytechnic School . Is member of the board of ABES, the Brazilian Software Industry Association,and member of other company’s advisory boards. In ICANN is active since 2000 started asGAC member and GAC Vice Chair, Member of the Board of Directors , chairing Audit and Reconsideration committees and member of governance, compensation and meetings committees; Vice chair of ALAC, Liaison form ALAC to the Board of Directors; chair and member of NomComm and member of SSAC. Helped to set up the fellowship program, and the DNS Women group. Today ,is part of the LAC Strategy group, developing a new strategy for the region. Has promoted new gTLD in the region and continue to promote governance in the region for some new comers.

 

Has been awarded several times in the country, including as the most influential women in ICT in the country in 2007. Is co-author of some books on ICT field and is vice chair of a not for profit organization to qualify and promote new opportunities for women in the ICT field.
